Welcome to the practice of Dr. Alan Berlin MD.,P.C. . With 40 years of experience, Dr. Berlin has always strived to accomplish the most up to date top quality surgical care for all of his patients. Dr. Berlin personally formulates a treatment plan that is tailored to each of his patients' individual conditions and needs.
Communication is essential to our staff. We educate our patients on all of their options and address any questions or concerns they may have. In order to ensure that a patient is receiving the best care possible, we maintain contact with the primary care physician and other necessary specialists.

Meet Dr. Berlin
Born and raised in Montgomery, Dr. Berlin graduated high school at the Montgomery Academy in 1971. He attended undergraduate school at Emory University in Atlanta. During that time, Dr. Berlin worked at Grady Hospital as a volunteer and Operating Room scrub tech. He was able to skip his senior year in college and was accepted early at several medical schools. He attended University of South Alabama College of Medicine, receiving his M.D. degree in 1978.
Surgical residency followed Dr. Berlin’s graduation at Emory University and Greenville Hospital System in Greenville, South Carolina. There he developed a special interest in general as well as vascular surgery.
He returned to Montgomery after finishing residency and began his surgical practice in 1983. As new techniques in surgery developed, Dr. Berlin consistently acquired new skills and introduced most of these to the Montgomery area. As the first in Montgomery and only the second in the state, he pioneered Laparoscopic Gallbladder Surgery in 1990. Since then he continued to be the first to perform other laparoscopic surgeries which are now becoming commonplace. He quickly developed a reputation for advanced laparoscopic surgery through out central and south Alabama. He designed a unique laparoscopic inguinal hernia procedure; performing over 3000 cases.
His interest in the developing Robotic Surgery surgical applications led to his beginning to perform robotic surgical cases in April 2013. Quickly his involvement blossomed, performing a wide variety of the most advanced robotic procedures. To date, Dr. Berlin has performed near 1,000 robotic cases and is the only robotic surgeon in the Montgomery area performing these procedures.
